Eye of the Storm Festival

I was the artistic director of Eye of the Storm Festival in 2013.

Eye of the Storm brought together 40 of the nations most interesting writers and thinkers including Benjamin Law, Anna Krien and Ali Cobby Eckermann. 1500 locals and a digital audience of over 50,000 came together for a weekend of discussions about place, politics, history and pleasure. The panels program was accompanied by intimate performances in some of the countries most beautiful and remote locations. A outreach program included writers workshops in local primary and secondary schools, including First Nation’s writers Dub Leffler and Marie Munkara presenting a lesson on School of the Air.

The festival was national radio and television broadcast through ABC Big Ideas.

Eye of the Storm festival is now presented as the NT Writers Festival, held biannually in Central Australia.

More Projects

The Museum of Intimate Memories was a tiny pop up museum exploring memory and connection through ritualised archiving and story telling.

Testing Ground was a ritual of recovery, that made visible the damage to the ‘Ilparpa Claypans’, caused by dumping and invasive weeds.

Gathering Ground was a generative walkshop series, using embodied reading, walking and making to expose and transform relationships between people and places.
