AAA Climate Emergency: Creative Activism Workshops

Many of our problems are cultural, and cultural problems need cultural solutions….

In conjunction with Lock the Gate and the Arid Lands Environment Center, I designed and co-facilitated a four part workshop series on creative activism in Mparntwe/Alice Springs with local artists and activists. Informed by the work of The Center for Story Based Strategy,  participants developed skills in narrative and visual storytelling with purpose, including identification of campaign targets and key messages, and using creative storytelling to communicate, vision and inspire social change.

The workshops culminated on the AAA Climate Emergency creative action against the climate warming impacts of fracking in the Beetaloo basin.

Small. Slow. Humble was an invitation to consider radical alternatives to the current models of creative success. This interactive forum blended community conversation, reading group and ritual to create space for reflection, discussion and visioning about how we, as artists, might nurture small, local and inclusive practices within our individual and collective practices, in the places where we live, work and love.
